These terms and conditions will be made contractual between the Owner (that’s us) and the Hirer (that’s you) upon any booking made with us. During collection of any vehicle, this will need to be signed.

Collection and Returns

All our vehicles are available for collection between 8am – 12pm unless otherwise agreed with our Design Hub. Return times of the vehicle will be scheduled during collection.

When you come to the design hub we will show you round the van and how to use it and deal with the paperwork. The vehicle will be checked for any damage before you leave using an inspection sheet, this will be agreed and signed by you, any additional damage upon return will be charged.

The vehicle needs to be returned in the same condition you collected it in. We do not expect you to thoroughly clean your vehicle but please clear out any rubbish, wipe down the interior surfaces and sweep the floor before you bring it back to us. It must be returned with a full tank of fuel (we promise it will be given to you with a full tank as well), we will make a charge of £10, in addition to the fuel costs, for refuelling if you fail to return your van with a full tank.

An amount equal to the cost of any material damage or cleaning costs will be directly deducted from the security deposit.

Failure to return the vehicle on the correct date agreed upon collection will incur a charge equal to the day rate of the vehicle for each day that it is delayed. If this late return of vehicle results in the loss of subsequent hires then loss of earnings from the said hires will be charged to the late hirer.

Insurance

As part of the hire agreement you will be fully insured but we need some information off you before you can drive off. The basic cost includes fully comprehensive insurance for up to three named drivers – each driver will need to provide the following information. (without these documents we will not be able to release the vehicle to you so please remember!).

PROOF OF NAME – ALL DOCUMENTS MUST INCLUDE THE HIRER’S FULL NAME (Please bring one of the following with you during van collection)

1 Current UK Full Photocard Driving Licence and Convictions Verification Page from the DVLA Database – No more that 6 Points
2 Current EU member state National ID Photocard and driving licence
3 Current firearms certificate or shotgun licence.
4 Current old style UK Driving Licence (no photo)

PROOF OF ADDRESS – ALL DOCUMENTS MUST INCLUDE THE HIRER’S NAME & CURRENT ADDRESS (Please bring one of the following with you during van collection)

1 A credit card statement, dated within the last 3 months
2 A notification letter from Benefits Agency/Local Authority confirming your right to benefits (Department for Works and Pensions, Jobcentre Plus, Benefits Agency or Veterans Agency), dated
within the last 12 months
3 Bank, Building Society, Credit Union statement, dated within the last 3 months
4 Council Tax bill (valid for the current financial year)
5 Current Tenancy Agreement, from a local council or a recognised letting agency
6 HMRC document (PAYE Coding Notice/Tax Notification/Self-Assessment/Statement of Account/NI contributions bill) issued in the last three months or valid for the current tax year – we can’t
accept P45 or P60 forms
7 Mortgage statement from a recognised lender, dated within the last 12 months
8 Sky or cable TV bills, dated within the last 3 months
Telephone bill, dated within the last 3 months – we can’t accept mobile phone bills
9 Utility bill – gas, electricity or water, dated within the last 3 months

Your information

Your information will be kept private and confidential. There are certain times when we need to share your information with business partners, insurers, credit providers and other third parties. We do this when they are directly involved in administering your insurance.
We also use your information to keep you up to date with developments at AC1 Customs Ltd. We might need to do this for legal reasons, to help you find your insurance policy or collect payment.
We hold data in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This means you have the right to see the personal information we hold about you. If you want to know what information we hold about you, please let us know. There is no charge for this information. There may be a charge if the request is onerous, but this will only cover the cost to us.
We also use information that is publicly available to help check who you are and protect against fraud. This includes things like credit referencing and checking the financial sanctions lists.

Vehicle Recovery

AC1 Customs provide standard breakdown cover at no extra cost. If your vehicle breaks down please contact Greenflag using the following account number and they will attend as per Greenflag standard conditions. Dan is a miracle making mechanic so the van should be fine but acts of God can’t be mitigated. If repairs can’t be made on the road then

If repairs can’t be made on the road then Greenflag will bring you back to the Design Hub for Dan to work his magic. If you lose nights due to breakdown then you will be refunded within 7 days for an amount equal to the cost paid for the days lost. The use of an alternative vehicle will be offered if available.

AC1 Customs will reimburse you for any minor repairs, up to a total of £50, which are necessarily required to the vehicle during the hire period, valid receipts for such minor repairs must be provided.

Payment

Payment for the 50% booking deposit is taken online by the website, this is non-refundable for cancellations within 14 days of your chosen collection day. The remaining 50% is taken when you collect the van and start your little adventure. We do not store your card information so this will be taken again when you collect. We will also take a security deposit upon collection of £500 (the same value of insurance excess) which will be returned to you upon return of the vehicle as long as it is returned in the same condition it was let in (relatively clean and with a full tank of fuel). There will be a 24 hour grace period for return of this to allow a thorough inspection of the vehicle. Any deductions to the deposit will be made known to you during this period and deducted accordingly. The security deposit will be returned to you using the same method of payment unless otherwise agreed.

We give an allowance of 500 miles per booking, the current mileage on the vehicle will be agreed with you during collection. Any additional mileage will be charged upon return at a rate of 40p per mile, this will be taken from your security deposit.

How to use the van

We will show you the basics when you collect but you can go to the website to view specific videos on how to use the features of the van. If the video does not help call Adam on 07904 208732.

Our vans are fitted with most of the essential items but see the van detail page on the website for specific detail. You will need to bring your own bedding (sleeping bags work well as they are neater to store), pillows, towels and extra blankets … we are in the UK after all!

We accept children, pets, mother-in-laws and bikes. We don’t accept smoking or negative vibes in any of our vehicles.

Our vehicles are for personal use only, so can’t be used for commercial or business use. Please do not make any changes either mechanical or interiors, including fitting tow bars or fairy lights.

Cancellations

Booking deposits are non-refundable for cancellations within 14 days of your chosen collection day.

If you need to cancel your booking, then please let us know as soon as possible by contacting the Design Hub. If your cancellation is 14 days before your collection date then you will be fully refunded.
